Slowinski was announced as the recipient of the 2009-10 Men's Natonal Coach of the Year by the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association.  Coach Slowinski is the Head Coach of the Webber International University bowling program as well as the Men's Head Coach.

Call for Papers: The Science of Tenpin Bowling

Measuring Psychological Characteristics in Your Bowlers

In my Psychological Characteristics of Champions article, appearing in the February 2007 issue of Bowling This Month, I shared with reader the research on what psychological characteristics the greatest champions who ever lived possessed internally. These psychological characteristics included: coachability, motivation and commitment, setting goals, optimistic and positive outlook, positive perfectionism, ability to focus, ability to manage stress, cope with adversity, mental toughness and sport intelligence.   Clearly, as a coach, it is important to identify these characteristics in your athletes.  But, how do you measure these?  The Athletic Coping Skill Inventory (ACSI-28) is an instrument that can be used to measure these attributes in yourself or in your players.
